Mortality in cardiogenic shock has not changed in the past 20 years. A multidisciplinary group of physicians and nurses met at ACC to discuss the current challenges of caring for the patient in cardiogenic shock (CS) in both acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). Key issues were identified in the care of these patients.
Program Learning Objectives:
- Review current societal efforts in CS
- Understand the current definitions in the spectrum of CS
- Discuss the necessary members of the shock team
- Describe needed systems of care for managing the patient in shock.
